Day 7 - Executive PGDM at NMIMS, Hyderabad

Continuing from where I left off in the last post, today too we had classes and I'm eagerly looking forward to the upcoming dussehra break. Today was an eventful day, surprise quizes was the highlight along with a birthday celebration (yeah we had one last week too) Without wasting much time, here's how Day 7 - Executive PGDM at NMIMS, Hyderabad was.

Let's start with a Quiz

As I told in the earlier post, we had a quiz on Business Environment today. Frankly I thought I was in good shape for that. Concepts were clear, graphs were understood. However the one thing that I regret not doing was working on the formulae, something that all my friends relate me to. The quiz was pretty simple and I was laughing during the test because, I knew I had messed it up. Anyways once the quiz was done, we learnt about Aggregate Demand and Aggregate Supply. We learnt how these graphs are different from the concepts of microeconomics. How various variables like interest rates, exchange rates etc. affect these. The other theory that we learnt was about Sticky Wages, where in the companies are stuck with a price and cannot do anything on that front. Hence they either reduce the supply or the workforce. Intense back to back lectures, time to get back to the drawing board and start taking stock of things.

The next in line was IT for managers. We were told that it would be a technical session today and I was excited. Yaay ! Finally there's something where I can speak ! We learnt about Moore's Law about how the power of micro-processors doubles every 18 months and how their sizes and prices affect. I remember I had done a certificate course on Innovation and IT Management by IIM-B on EdX. We also dived into how IT infrastructure should be implemented. Later we spoke about all hardware, network devices, Operating Systems, Software, IP Address, DNS, HTTP, URL, Search Engines, Page Rank etc. a lot of stuff talked about. I knew most of it, I wonder how others will take it. All I'd say is Main Hoo Naa..

Informative Session on Microeconomics

Guess what, we had a quiz here too. A lot of questions about demand-supply graphs, public and private goods. I don't know that I did exactly, but I did well I'd say. We then talked about Prisoner's Dilemma and how it is based on Trust. We also talked about Oligopolies and Monopolies. It was good initially but again need to study to understand the concepts.

Prisoner's Dillema
All in all a pretty eventful week. Yesterday I did understand something in Accounting, Statistics was good too. For the quiz on Business Environment today, I got a reality check on how to prepare. So a great week I'd say. Coming weekend is Dussehra and having a long weekend. Being a travel blogger otherwise, I would have definitely planned a trip. But with the situation in class a little shaky I'll probably stay at home and try to get the concepts right (hopefully) So that's how Day 7 of Executive PGDM at NMIMS, Hyderabad was.

Wishing you all a very Happy Durja Pooja and Happy Dussehra. May all the sorrows in your life be burned away and happiness settles in. Do what you love as I say always !

Cya !
